Your missus sent me here. This is lovely!

And BTW it’s “your hot missus”. There are rules you know.

Haha well I shall defer to your greater knowledge there. I think she's lovely, talented and generous, but now you've thrown hot into the mix, I'll be sure to keep it in mind!

Really, really nice! The rhythm in this is great.

I know it’s unfashionable, but part of a poem’s mission is to be memorable, and the rhythm/rhyme really helps with that.

Oh, no, I totally agree with that. It's a shame rhyme and meter are seen as unfashionable; they are tools in the poet's toolbox, and should be used where they are appropriate. As they are here!

Thank you Ian, what a wonderful poem, I can see it all!

No wonder your note went straight to the top of the pile. Nice to met you as Mick Jagger said. I love the focus on your legacy, and bravo for the copyright talk. An Island, that must be nice, and a pain on shopping day.

You got right to the very end, even the copyright! My kind of reader. 🙂

Thanks Ian, gee the stationary bills must be high in your household.

I enjoyed this poem. I also live many miles away from my kids. The distance isn't marked by island/peninsula separation, but they're countries away, and no one can 'pop in'.

Also - you're "not especially bothered about subscriber-counts" how refreshing. You just like writing, with a sense of legacy. I get it. Thank you :)

I take it - you live on one of the Western Isles, in Scotland? My daughter now lives on the east coast, near Dundee. I visit pretty regularly, and often think of moving there. But the rain and the dark....

Much further south: Isle of Wight

Gorgeous poem. I was wondering if it is a real island or one that fiction dreamt up. Then I see in the comments.
