About me

AM OR WERE… Outdoorsman. Indoorsman. Fearful of cows. Poet. Typographer. Percussionist. Alarming dancer. 80s throwback. Family man. Storyteller. Coder. Actualitarian. Culture snark. Hyphenate-entrepreneur. Journalist. Graphic designer. Three-dish chef. Offshore dweller. Gown admirer. Camera-shy. Driver-seat singer. Non-competitor. Cruciverbalist. “You’re like a street pastor, but not the creepy kind”. Shade-seeker. Frustrated fashion designer. Guided by movies. And you?

About Undergrowth

This is a home for my creative work: poetry, stories, essays, some photography, other noodlings.

I am Ian Winter.

There’s no strong agenda here, beyond the in-built bias that I live and work in rural England and so bring a non-urban perspective. For a more flag-wavy version of “About Me”, check the Undergrowth Manifesto.

Hope you enjoy my stuff. I love writing it.

Why subscribe?

Subscribe to get full access to my public posts. I aim to make all posts public at no charge. But!… for any paid subscribers and those who make one-off donations, I will hold you among the elite, and to honour you I’ll check if you’d like to be added to the list of Executive Producers right here on Undergrowth. It’s practically a shrine. Your next business card is gonna be lit! Also, dope!
